Ruby Jack Trail

  • Location: Carthage to Oronogo to Carl Junction.
  • Distance: 16 miles one way per TrailLink, though riders report about 13 miles actually cleared.
  • Parking: Carthage trailhead on Old 66 Blvd, Carl Junction lot near the ball field on Pennell St, Oronogo trailhead on County Rd 200.
  • Difficulty: Easy on finished sections, rougher in the unfinished middle.
  • Surface: Crushed stone and gravel, smooth limestone from Carthage to the 9 mile marker.
  • Hazards: carry bikes over railroad tracks at Carl Junction, middle stretch unfinished, last 2 miles at the Kansas end unmaintained, long remote stretches with no services.
